dc.description.abstractComputer parks often have devices running for tens of hours a week without anyone using them, wasting electricity and money. The issue could be alleviated by shutting down unused systems. However, offline systems are rendered inaccessible to systems administrators for regular maintenance, patching, etc. This study aims to find appropriate methods for shutting down and waking up systems in order to reduce the amount of time computers run inactively, while providing administrators the necessary tools to manage said offline devices. The solution is focused on the use case for UT Delta center.
